Yoga is a journey of introspection and self-discovery. Starting Yoga begins with the first step on a unique personal path towards experiencing paradigm-shifts by challenging your self-imposed boundaries. It’s an investment in your future, requiring only that you focus on the now.

Moving on from the deep stuff, asana is meditation-in-motion, which explains the calming of the nervous system and hence the de-stressing benefits of yoga. Moreover, asana conditions the body in a way that no other form of bodily practice does, imparting benefits not only on the musculoskeletal system, fascia, joints and tendons but on the bodily organs, lymphatic, nervous and various other bodily systems too.

But that’s not all! If you get started right now… Jokes aside, hindrances that were injuries become stronger, more flexible and less painful. And those are the parts of the body that don’t work so well! As I said, it’s an investment in yourself that will keep your body in the best possible shape until the day you breathe your last. It’ll also do incredible things for the rest of you too.

What Do I Need To Do?

Starting yoga need not be a daunting process requiring you to psych yourself up to this big D-day. Just come to one of our yoga classes. We have a yoga mat for you, although sooner than later you’ll want to get your own. And partake.

What Can I Expect?

You can expect to encounter yourself doing things with your body that you only thought possible for yourself decades earlier. You’ll discover your range of motion limits and feel all the better for regularly but mindfully, challenging them. You’ll learn the traditional Sanskrit names of the asanas. You’ll learn what sun salutations and downward facing dog are all about and, you’ll be getting a healthy workout too.

We practice traditional styles of yoga, along the lines of Iyengar and Ashtanga, so you can enjoy free-style classes as well as Ashtanga yoga primary series led classes. Once you begin to learn the primary series, you’ll be able to take your practice wherever you go.

Starting yoga for me was probably at least as big as quitting smoking, each no less a facet of self-mastery. I suspect it likely that you’ll find that it has a notable impact on your life too.
